From click to the canvas tips for area photo fans
By Debra Filcman/ Correspondent Friday, February 25, 2005 West Roxbury & Roslindale Transcript Photographer Ellie Keenan has always captured the beauty of everyday life with her camera. Now she wants to make sure fellow artists capture it just as accurately with their brushes and canvas. Keenan delivered her first photography lecture at the library last Wednesday, addressing a group of approximately 25 West Roxbury Art Association members. An assistant to City Councilor John Tobin was also in attendance to announce an initiative to care for children of association members whose parents have been sent overseas in the military. Extra art supplies, including paints, crayons and coloring books, will be collected and distributed to these children. more »

John Tobin attended the grand opening at Java Jo's in Jamaica Plain. "It's a great thing for Jamaica Plain. It's become a real meeting place fo the community. Looking forward to more store openings across our city. These types of small businesses are the heartbeat of the community. The more ribbon cuttings the better. Hopefully we can get this replicated across the district." John Tobin 2/3/05 more » Saturday, February 19
