ORDER OF CITY COUNCILLOR JOHN M. TOBIN, JR
WHEREAS: In September 2003, the City of Boston opened the Boston International High School (BIHS); and
WHEREAS: The BIHS was originally designed to be a two-year program and is now a four year program; and
WHEREAS: The Council has recently received various complaints regarding BIHS from parents, students and faculty, such as report card errors and students denied a MCAS retest in November 2004; and
WHEREAS: There are eight full time teachers assigned to BIHS, however, two of the eight teachers were recently dismissed from the school in a very untimely manner with just two months remaining in the school year; Therefore be it
ORDERED: That the appropriate Boston City Council committee conduct a hearing to review the implementation of the Boston International High School and to discuss the many concerns of parents, students and faculty.
