ORDER OF CITY COUNCILLOR JOHN M. TOBIN, JR

WHEREAS: Fleet management services are available, such as operation consulting, fuel management consulting,
training, general fleet industry consulting, procurement and financial planning, parts inventory management consulting, management information technology, and maintenance and repair facility consulting; and

WHEREAS: The city of Boston has never hired a company to perform such services; and

WHEREAS: Other major cities in the United States such as New York, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles have hired and benefited from these services; and

WHEREAS: The city of Boston owns vehicles and leases vehicles; Therefore be it

ORDERED: That the appropriate committee of the Boston City Council conducts a hearing to consider the possibility of hiring a company to consult on the state of the city’sfleet and management practices regarding it.
